Belly up to the bar, friends. Why Daddy Drinks is taking on a life of its own.

Many of you have read the odd-occasional Why Daddy Drinks postings, along with the other screeds that I wrote for the dads blog Your Dad Did…And those can still be found at http://www.yourdaddid.com. However, after much consideration, we have decided to move on from there to [hopefully] bigger and better things. And audiences, too. Which is why, from here on, these posts will be located here, at my rexcrum.wordpress.com site, and, if I can work out all the technological stuff, at rexcrum.com.

So, why does Daddy drink?

Well, if you’re a dad, you know why. Hey, we all love our kids, but sometimes, when they are brawling over something like that one Barbie doll, and especially when there are about seven others close at hand, you just look at them and say, “Really?” And then you pour yourself a shot, a cold one or chug what’s left in that bottle of wine from dinner the other night.

I intend Why Daddy Drinks to be a site mostly dedicated to chronicling the absurd and humorous adventures of what it’s like to be a post-40-year-old dad with two young daughters and an amazing wife who, like me, doesn’t get nearly as much sleep as she should. Here, I will refer to my daughters as Maddo, age 4, and Little Sis, age 2. Since they are my kids I, of course, find them adorable and insane. But that is their job to be that way.
